"Engaging Churches - West Africa"

When Forest Baptist Church of Forest, Va., began their engagement with the B people of Nigeria in March 2009, they were told several things: Expect to spend time building relationships before you can share the Gospel, pray for opportunities to share, and be prepared to share after dark when seekers come to your tent site. One year and four trips later, FBC Forest seems to have been widely welcomed into the village. In January 2010, a team was able to share a Bible story with I., the village chief, for the first time. In March 2010, the team learned that I. had been hospitalized with meningitis for the previous 10 days. The team prayed daily for the chief, and each day God brought strength and healing. Then God opened the floodgates of people and the team was able to distribute 10 local-language New Testaments, 15 Gospels of John and 40 Gospel cassettes, and had numerous opportunities to share the “Creation to Christ” story--and all of this occurred in broad daylight rather than under cover of darkness. Continue to pray for FBC Forest as they reach out with the Truth, and pray for the B people to become people of the Light. Also pray for I., the village chief who is 75 years old, as he considers the truth of the Gospel.
